Clet – Beata Angelica

Con la sua consueta ironia e puntualità metamorfica, Clet Abraham si avvicina al dialogo con il Beato Angelico traducendo il linguaggio angelichiano in un lessico urbano. L’arco a tutto sesto delle architetture angelichiane — forse ancora intriso di spirito gotico — trova eco nel gesto dell’artista, che rovescia una freccia autostradale fino a trasformarla in un arco ogivale. In questa rima di forme, antica e contemporanea, Clet individua un punto d’incontro in cui il sacro, forse, ha cambiato centro di gravità e il trascendentale si lascia corrompere — o incarnare — dalla realtà contemporanea.

With his customary irony and metamorphic precision, Clet Abraham engages in a dialogue with Beato Angelico, translating Angelico’s sacred language into his own urban vocabulary.

The round arch of Angelico’s architecture — perhaps still imbued with a Gothic spirit — is reflected in the artist’s gesture, as he turns a highway arrow sign upside down, transforming it into a pointed ogival arch.

In this rhyme of forms, both ancient and contemporary, Clet finds a meeting point where the sacred, perhaps, has shifted its centre of gravity, and the transcendental has been tainted by contemporary reality.
