Erica Conti – Annunciazione

Per la mostra Dopo l’Angelico, Erica Conti riprende il tema dell’Annunciazione rappresentandosi sia nella figura dell’angelo che in quella dell’annunciata. Questa doppia incarnazione mette in discussione la distinzione dei ruoli — messaggero e destinataria — riunendoli in un solo corpo, quello dell’artista.

Il gioco delle mani, elemento centrale della composizione, richiama i gesti raffinati del Beato Angelico e, più in generale, del Primo Rinascimento. Qui diventa un linguaggio intimo: le mani si coprono, si rispondono, si attorcigliano attorno al ventre, evocando la carne, la pudicizia e la trasformazione.

Tra le due figure, uno spazio luminoso delinea un doppio arco — forma discreta ma strutturante — la cui chiarezza centrale agisce come la luce dell’Annunciazione, punto di rivelazione in cui il visibile e l’invisibile si incontrano.

For the exhibition Dopo l’Angelico, Erica Conti revisits the theme of the Annunciation by portraying herself both as the angel and as the announced figure. This dual embodiment questions the division of roles — messenger and receiver — merging them into a single body, that of the artist.

The interplay of hands, central to the composition, recalls the refined gestures of Fra Angelico and of the early Renaissance in general. Here, it becomes an intimate language: the hands cover, respond, and twist around the abdomen, evoking flesh, modesty, and transformation.

Between the two figures, a luminous space outlines a double arch — discreet yet structuring — whose central clarity acts as the light of the Annunciation, the point of revelation where the visible and the invisible meet.
